Thoughts & Prayers

Frankie Ravioli (his golf nick name) and I (The POD, or as Frankie always said "Poderick")was one of my favorite people in the world. When we were golf partners, he always launched me into a very warm, friendly, and joyfully anticipated round of golf. Our trip across 18 holes were always part golf, part a lesson in the correct meaning and pronunciation of Italian words, including slang. I learned more about Sicily and its distinction from Calabrase, Neapolitan, Tuscan, and other regions and people of of Italy, than I did from so many other people I knew of Italian decent. Frankie enjoyed learning new things, he would always be looking up correct grammar and word meaning. He was somewhat of a Renaissance man.

He always spoke of his wife in loving terms and no one ever questioned his devotion to his family.

One time, years ago, I bought a 5 wood. I used it once or twice and it just did not feel right. I gave Frankie the club as a gift at least 12 maybe 15 years ago.

Every-time he used it on the golf course, He would announce - "I am using the 5 wood my friend Poderick gave me". He made this announcement without fail and it endeared me to Rav in ways I can't explain. Golf for me will never be the same without him. He was a very special man and the world is a better place because of the positive, loving contribution he made.

I so enjoyed his little quirks for what they were - part of what made Rav, Rav. The simplest thing I can say is that I loved Rav. in a very special way and I pray that he is in peace in a singular place we will not know until we find ourselves being called. Wherever Frankie's soul now dwells, that is were I want to go when I am called Dan Rennus ( Poderick ) dmrennus@gmail.com
