Thoughts & Prayers

I knew Jimbo only via the NYT crossword puzzles and the WordPlay blog and Comments. (I am 'MOL'--Mean Old Lady-- and Jimbo kept a running joke going about my ignorance (or outright abhorrence) on popular music subjects. He will be greatly missed by all of his 'CrossWorld' family.

Thank you, Jimbo, for all your wonderful contributions to Wordplay. You are very much missed.

Jimbo knew me as Tuna. He was another of my never-met friends, yet I was sure we would meet someday. I have connections to NYC and our paths would have crossed.
We shared a love of words and were perfectly matched at Scrabble-like games. He would clobber me, and then I would return the favor. He was always tickled if he got to play TUNA, or "aghast" if I played a naughty word. His mind was swift and his humor gentle. His knowledge, especially of all things music, deep as the ocean.
He had so much life left to live, music to listen to and, more importantly, to share. It is not fair he left us so soon. He will be sorely missed for a long time to come.

I was so very sad to hear of Jim's unexpected passing. While we've been Facebook friends in recent years, I've not spent any time with Jim since I was privileged to work next to him at Plenum Publishing in 1984-1985. He was such a delight to work with and talk with (more than I probably should have!) during our work days.
